Memory and cultures: a matter of the present

Summary

The article aims to introduce the three subsequent contributions whose focus is the educational function of memory in three different cultural contexts. Making “memory“ is a complex issue and requires a conscious gaze of the ambiguity and plurality of this operation. It is necessary to be attentive to the “present“ of the narrator and to the complexity of the intertwining of memory, identity representation and cultural identification and / or belonging. The brief introduction underlines the task of thinking about the past in order to build the future, while remembering how much a question of the present is.

Riassunto

L’articolo ha lo scopo di introdurre i tre contributi successivi il cui focus è la funzione educativa della memoria in tre contesti culturali differenti. Fare “memoria” è una questione complessa e richiede uno sguardo consapevole dell’ambiguità e della pluralità di questa operazione. Occorre essere attenti al “presente” di chi racconta e alla complessità dell’intreccio tra memoria, rappresentazione identitaria e identificazione e/o appartenenza culturale. La breve introduzione rilancia il compito di pensare il passato per costruire il futuro ricordando però quanto sia una questione di presente.

El artículo tiene por objeto presentar las tres aportaciones sucesivas cuyo enfoque es la función educativa de la memoria en tres contextos culturales diferentes. Hacer “memoria“ es un tema complejo y requiere una mirada consciente de la ambigüedad y pluralidad de esta operación. Es necesario estar atentos al “presente“ del narrador y a la complejidad del entrelazamiento de la memoria, la representación de la identidad y la identificación y / o pertenencia cultural. La breve introducción repropone la tarea de pensar en el pasado para construir el futuro, recordando cuánto sea una cuestión del presente.
