La prevalenza delle donne nell’insegnamento. Problema o risorsa?

Summary

This article is inspired by two classical literary texts, which deals with the problem of the consistent presence of women teachers in primary and elementary schools in the light of a statistical documentation on the recent European context. It also reasons out the motives that may cause men to disassociate themselves from primary education. With the intention of shedding light on the giftedness of women as teachers, the Author reflects on the authentic meaning of the concepts of authority and of education. In a key of resolution and values, the article points out how the co-presence of men and women in the mission of the contemporary school would be of advantage for the formation of new generations. This is already becoming actuality through various initiatives in some European countries.

Riassunto

La relazione, ispirata a due testi classici letterari, affronta la problematica della consistente presenza delle insegnanti donne nella scuola primaria e secondaria inferiore alla luce di una documentazione statistica, relativa al recente contesto europeo. Inoltre, disserta sui motivi che possono indurre gli uomini alla disaffezione all’insegnamento primario. Allo scopo poi di mettere a fuoco il pregio delle donne come insegnanti, l’A. fa riflettere sul significato autentico del concetto di autorità e di educazione. Infine, in chiave risolutiva e valoriale rileva come la compresenza di uomini e donne nella missione della scuola odierna tornerebbe di tutto vantaggio per la formazione delle nuove generazioni. Opzione che sta già diventando fattiva consapevolezza in varie iniziative promozionali di alcuni Paesi europei.
