Summary

The article presents the social functions of the family seen as a place of generation social capital, public responsibility, creativity and generativity, as well as living space where the marvels of the generous and responsible procreation of unique and unrepeatable new human beings takes place.
Beginning with the idea that the family is, today, under attack due to hedonism and relativism, the author proposes that families are called to a new responsibility, taking up the commitment to transform society.
The author presents concepts of subsidiarity and solidarity which are intertwined in the family, of the family as the generating the common good. Among the most efficacious instruments for sustaining the family and making it a protagonist of new welfare, the author points out family associations where the families have understood that staying together is a precious treasure, one that should be shared with as many families as possible.

L’articolo si sofferma sulle funzioni sociali della famiglia, vista come luogo generatore di capitale sociale, di responsabilità pubblica, di creatività e fecondità, oltre che luogo della vita, dove si perpetua la meravigliosa esperienza della procreazione generosa e responsabile di nuovi esseri umani, unici ed irripetibili.
Partendo dalla constatazione che la famiglia oggi e sotto attacco a causa dell’edonismo individualista e del relativismo, l’autore sostiene che le famiglie sono chiamate ad una nuova responsabilità, assumendosi l’impegno di trasformare la società.
Si sofferma sui concetti di sussidiarietà e di solidarietà, che si intrecciano nella famiglia, e su come la famiglia sia generatrice di bene comune. Tra gli strumenti più efficaci per il sostegno delle famiglie e perché esse siano protagoniste di un nuovo welfare, individua l’associazionismo familiare. Le famiglie associate hanno capito che stare insieme e un tesoro prezioso, un tesoro da rendere accessibile al maggior numero possibile di famiglie.
