Summary

The present study throws light on the evangelical logic that gives life to the choice of poverty, as well as the service of the poor in the Church. This is a logic that is truly open to the universal humanization of mankind. The starting point (Premessa) is from Pope Francis’ good wishes. Then several paradoxes are pointed they call forth the search for more profound meanings (The paradox of poverty).
Jesus reveals these meanings in his life and mission, highlighting the dignity of every creature, especially the great dignity of the human being called to participate in His own Sonship (The message of Jesus on the Poor and on Poverty). The Church, His memory in history, is called to be poor and to serve the poor through the Gospel, responding to the appeals of the Lord and of suffering humanity.

Riassunto

Il presente studio vuole mettere in luce la logica evangelica che vivifica la scelta della povertà e il servizio ai poveri nella Chiesa, una logica che apre alla vera e universale umanizzazione dell’umanità. Parte dall’auspicio di Papa Francesco (Premessa), per poi segnalare alcuni dei paradossi che diventano appelli a ricercare i significati più profondi (il paradosso della povertà).
Gesù ci svela questi significati nella sua vicenda e nella sua missione, evidenziando la dignità di ogni creatura e soprattutto l’eccelsa dignità della creatura umana chiamata a partecipare alla sua filialità divina (Il messaggio di Gesù sui poveri e la povertà). La Chiesa, sua memoria nella storia, è chiamata ad essere povera e a servire i poveri evangelicamente, rispondendo agli appelli del Signore e dell’umanità sofferente.
