This article poses the question: in this time in which "digital natives" live in Internet, in network, for Internet, is their mentality really changing so much as to make them incapable of learning and thinking? Doesn’t the metaphor of "digital natives", so efficacious in itself, solicit the presence of an adult "mediator" who has wisdom to hand on to the new generations? The young seem to be masters of all that is related to the use of digital technology, yet we are not sure that it means they are supported by real competence in this area. This is the point: beyond generational belonging, it is important for adults and young people to become active participatory citizens both within and beyond Internet.

L’articolo si interroga se, in un tempo in cui i "nati digitali" vivono in Rete, nella Rete, per la Rete, la mente dei ragazzi stia veramente mutando, tanto da renderli incapaci di apprendere e pensare? La metafora dei "nativi digitali", efficace senza dubbio, non sollecita piuttosto la presenza dell’adulto, "mediatore" di un sapere e di una saggezza da consegnare alle nuove generazioni? I giovani sembrano essere padroni delle pratiche relative all’uso delle tecnologie digitali ma non è sicuro che tali pratiche siano anche supportate da reali competenze. È questo il punto: al di là delle appartenenze generazionali, è importante che adulti e giovani diventino cittadini attivi e partecipi. Dentro e fuori la Rete.
