Presentation

The Bachelor's Degree or Baccalaureate course in Religious Education promotes the acquisition of basic knowledge and skills in theology and educational sciences. It prepares students for work in the field of religious education in religious organisations and educational institutions, including multicultural and multi-religious contexts. It prepares students for further specialisation in Pedagogy and Didactis of Religion and in Catechetics and Youth Ministry.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course of study, graduates must demonstrate:

  • to have acquired adequate knowledge and understanding of content and research methodologies in the field of theology and educational sciences and their necessary philosophical premises;
  • to have acquired knowledge and basic skills in religious education and teaching;
  • to be able to plan evangelisation, catechesis and youth ministry programmes;
  • to have developed communication and interpersonal skills for educational interaction at an individual, group and institutional level;
  • to be able to observe and think critically about operations that aim for the holistic development of individuals, especially those of a religious character, using the internship as a way to combine theory and practice;
  • to have acquired adequate computer skills for communication and information management;
  • to know and use a foreign language.

At the end of the course of study graduates will be able to find work as:

  • catechist coordinators;
  • bible school leaders;
  • youth ministry coordinators;
  • coordinators and managers of oratories/youth centres;
  • coordinators of religious education in Catholic schools and in church and educational institutions.


Il Corso di Baccalaureato fornisce i requisiti per l'accesso alle Licenze in Pedagogy and Didactis of Religion and in Catechetics and Youth Ministry offered by the Faculty.

Teaching and Learning

The Bachelor’s Degree Course covers three years, during which 180 ECTS credits must be obtained. To obtain the credits required to graduate, students must carry out the required training activities (courses, seminars and workshops) and an internship, as stated in the study programme.

Degree recognition

The Licentiate and PhDs of the Pontifical Faculty of Educational Sciences «Auxilium» are of pontifical right. For civil purposes, the degrees are valid in accordance with the laws in force in the various countries and the particular rules of each University.

Admission requirements

Those who hold a secondary school diploma that grants access to university in the country in which it was obtained may enrol in the Bachelor's Degree programmes.
Students from other universities are admitted subject to evaluation of the exams taken and credits earned.

Attendance

La frequenza agli insegnamenti e alle attività programmate nel proprio curricolo è obbligatoria.
Qualora le assenze superino un terzo del totale delle ore di un insegnamento o attività lo studente non può sostenere il relativo esame.
