Summary

The most used aspect of Web 2.0 is the building up of social networks through Internet. Facebook, My Space, and numerous other digital environments unite people, give them the chance to communicate, create and maintain ongoing relationships. This article, after giving some definitions and specifying the characteristics of social networking, goes on to highlight their possible educational use giving some reflections on new ways of being a real presence. The article then unfolds some precise considerations on the Educating Community which, beginning with a strong educational presence offline (or outside the network) projects itself online (in the network).

La costruzione di reti sociali grazie a Internet è la realtà più sfruttata del Web 2.0. Facebook, Myspace e numerosi altri ambienti digitali radunano, fanno comunicare, creano e mantengono vive le relazioni. Il presente contributo, dopo aver definito e puntualizzato le caratteristiche dei social network o reti sociali, accenna al loro possibile utilizzo educativo con l’offerta di alcune riflessioni circa modalità nuove di presenza. Si apre poi a considerazioni precise sulle comunità educanti che, partendo da una forte presenza educativa offline (o fuori dalla rete) si proietta poi nell'online (in rete).
